Reaching an annual export revenue of over $3 Billion, with more than 17,000 software houses and BPO centers, Pakistan’s organized industry has more than 600,000 IT professionals, with 25,000 new IT graduates joining the ranks every year. The IT sector exports a range of different IT services as well as products to more than 120 countries across the globe, making it one of the few countries to achieve this recognition.
Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) has presently established 28 STPs in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and the secondary cities of Pakistan with a total area of 1,343,893 square feet. These STPs have been set up by converting public /private owned office buildings/ factories/ warehouses to provide tech-enabled office space to the IT & ITeS companies at affordable rates. The development of more STPs is in the pipeline to further augment the ICT industry’s growth.
The freelancing industry in Pakistan is growing at an escalating pace and is deemed as one of the top freelance markets by Payoneer’s Global Gig Economy Index. Ranked as the ‘Fourth Fastest-Growing Freelancing Country’ in the world with 47% revenue growth, Pakistani freelancers generate revenue of over $500 million every year. Owing to this stellar performance, the Government of Pakistan is working on the maximization of freelancers in the country.
