The Micro Electronics Research Lab (MERL) at UIT University has developed Pakistan’s first two OpenSource RISC-V ISA based System on Chips (SoC). The fabrication cost of SoCs is sponsored by Google in a free shuttle program “OpenMPW ‘. The code is available on GitHub, providing an exciting opportunity for innovation. This achievement marks a major milestone for Pakistan, making the country independent in chip manufacturing. The lab’s success has positioned Pakistan to play a key role in the global tech landscape, with the potential to lead the way in chip design and development.
